How affiliates join your campaigns

What affiliates see under Promote, Campaigns, how Join campaign and Request to join work, and how you approve requests or add people automatically.

Updated October 21, 2026

Your affiliates can join more than one campaign. Each campaign's Who can join setting decides whether they can join it themselves, have to ask, or never see it. This article covers what your affiliates see and how requests reach you.

What affiliates see#

In their portal, affiliates go to PromoteCampaigns. The page has two lists:

  • Your campaigns: the campaigns they're in. Their main campaign is marked Main. A paused campaign shows Paused: links aren't tracking right now, and a request you haven't decided yet shows Waiting for approval.
  • More campaigns you can join: every campaign they can join, with what it pays. Each has a button:
    • Join campaign on an Anyone campaign. They're in straight away, and its links appear on their Referral links tab.
    • Request to join on an I approve each campaign, with the note that the program approves each request. The campaign then waits for you.

Invite only campaigns never show up in that list. Neither do paused or archived campaigns, or a campaign the affiliate was declined from or removed from.

Set who can join#

Open the campaign

Go to Campaigns, click the campaign, then open Go live.

Choose who can join

In the Who can join card, pick Anyone, I approve each or Invite only. It saves as soon as you choose.

OptionWhat affiliates see
AnyoneJoin campaign. They're in at once.
I approve eachRequest to join. They wait for you.
Invite onlyNothing. Only people you add are in it.

Your default campaign can't be Invite only, because new affiliates land there. More detail on each option: Choose who can join a campaign.

Approve or decline requests#

When an affiliate asks to join an I approve each campaign, they appear under Waiting for your approval in that campaign's Who can join card. Click Approve to let them in, or Decline. A declined affiliate stays in your program, and the campaign is no longer offered to them.

Add every new affiliate automatically#

Turn on Add every new affiliate automatically in the Who can join card to put everyone who joins your program into this campaign too. If you already have affiliates, affixo asks whether to add them as well: Yes adds them now, Only new ones leaves them out. Nobody gets an email either way.

This works on Invite only campaigns too, and is the easiest way to fill one. On an I approve each campaign, people added this way wait for your approval. A paused or archived campaign adds no one until you turn it back on.

Add one affiliate yourself#

Open the affiliate's profile, click Actions, and choose Add to campaign. This works for any campaign, including Invite only ones.

Tip

If you use webhooks, affiliate.campaign_joined fires when someone becomes an active member of a campaign, and affiliate.campaign_removed when they're removed or a request is declined. See API keys, webhooks and the MCP server.

Questions

Active campaigns set to Anyone or I approve each. Invite only, paused and archived campaigns aren't offered, and neither is a campaign the affiliate was declined from or removed from.

Straight away on an Anyone campaign: its links appear on their Referral links tab. On an I approve each campaign, the campaign shows Waiting for approval until you approve them.

They aren't added to that campaign and stay in your program. The campaign is no longer offered to them, so they can't ask again.

Open the affiliate's profile, click Actions, and choose Add to campaign. Or turn on Add every new affiliate automatically on that campaign.

No. While you're viewing as an affiliate, the Join campaign and Request to join buttons are off. Use Add to campaign on their profile instead.
