Add a referral manually
Credit an affiliate for a customer tracking missed, so their future payments earn commission, and import past Stripe sales if you want.
Tracking catches most sales, but not all of them: a customer found you through a podcast, an affiliate sent an intro by email, or someone bought on another device. Adding the referral by hand links that customer to the affiliate, so their payments from now on earn commission under the campaign's normal rules.
Add a referral#
Open Add referral
Go to Referrals and click Add referral. From an affiliate's profile, click ActionsNew referral instead.
Pick the affiliate
The first screen asks Who referred them? Pick the affiliate to credit. From a profile, this step is skipped.
Enter the customer
Fill in Name, Customer email and Stripe customer ID (optional). The line under the ID tells you what will happen, for example that their payments from now on earn Maya commission, and under which campaign.
Set the date and type
Referred on is when they were referred (blank means today, and it can't be in the future). Type is Lead (signed up, not paying yet) or Customer.
Import past sales if needed
Import all Stripe events imports all their paid sales and creates the commissions for them.
It needs a Stripe customer ID starting with cus_; without one the switch shows
UID required.
Save
Click Add referral. The confirmation shows where the referral now appears and, if you imported, how many past sales came in.
Tip
If they already bought and you didn't import, the confirmation offers Add a sale so the affiliate earns on that purchase too.
How future payments are matched#
affixo matches the customer's later payments by their email and Stripe customer ID. With neither, the referral is recorded but later payments can't be matched to anyone. The referral's detail view shows Future payments: who they credit and since when, or that they're no longer credited.
When it's refused#
- Already someone's referral. The message names the affiliate, and nothing is added. Use Move a referral instead.
- Already on your list with no affiliate. Edit that referral and choose the affiliate under Referred by.
- The affiliate's own email. An affiliate can't be their own referral.
- A test affiliate. Their referral is recorded but never earns real commission.

Questions
Not automatically. Adding a referral credits payments from now on. For earlier payments, turn on Import all Stripe events (needs the Stripe customer ID), or add them as a sale with New commission.
No. Referred on is shown on the referral. The credit for future payments always starts when you add the referral.
affixo refuses and tells you who they belong to. Nothing is added. To change owners, use Move to affiliate on the existing referral instead.
Yes. Disable the referral from its row menu. It won't generate any further commissions, and commissions already earned are not affected. Re-enabling doesn't restart the credit for future payments; add them as a referral again for that.
Anyone with permission to manage affiliates, which means Admins and Program managers.
