Can I test without real money?
Three ways to see referrals and commissions work before a real customer pays, and how test data stays out of your totals.
Yes. affixo marks anything you do while testing as test data. It shows up in your dashboard with a Test badge so you can see it working, but it's never paid, never counted in your totals and never emails anyone.
There are three ways to test, from quickest to most thorough.
1. Send a test referral (no website needed)#
This shows you what a referral and a commission look like, without any traffic.
Open Referrals
Go to Referrals in the sidebar and click Send a test referral.
Choose what to test
Pick A sale (a paying customer, with a commission) or A signup (a lead who hasn't paid, no commission). For a sale, enter an amount.
Send it
Click Send test referral. A sample affiliate called Affixo sample (test) gets the referral and earns 25% of the test amount.
It runs inside affixo only. It doesn't touch your website or checkout. To check those, click Test my site on the result, or use the next option.
2. Run the setup tester on your site#
The guided test under SettingsConnectTracking & install, Test your install, sends a real test click through your site, checks a signup, and runs a sample sale. 3. Buy through your own checkout in Stripe test mode#
The most complete check is a real purchase on your site using Stripe's test mode. Payments made in Stripe test mode go through the same steps as a live sale, but are recorded as test data and excluded from reports and payouts.
Open your site through the test link from the tester's Referral step first. The link ends in
_sa_test=1, which marks your browser as a tester for the next 30 minutes, so the click and
signup are recorded as test data too.
Note
The safe test sale uses its own test campaign and reward. It proves a sale can produce a commission, but not that your own campaign's rate and product choices are right. Check those in your campaign before you launch.
Where test data shows up#
- Referrals: test rows carry a Test badge. Tick Hide test to hide them.
- Reports: switch on Hide test data to leave test clicks and conversions out.
- Commissions: test commissions are kept out of your money totals.
