Keep your old affiliate links working
How affixo credits clicks on links your affiliates shared before you switched, and how to check a link works.
Your affiliates have links out in blog posts, videos and emails. When you switch to affixo, those links keep crediting the right person, as long as their referral code came over in the import.
How old links are recognized#
The affixo tracking script looks for a referral code in any of these URL parameters:
ref, sa_ref, fp_ref, fpr, am_id, via, deal, _from, _by, _go
The parameter name doesn't matter, only the code. A link with ?fpr=jane and one with ?ref=jane
both credit the affiliate whose code is jane.
Visitors who clicked before you switched#
Someone may have clicked an affiliate link last month and not bought yet. If your old platform left a FirstPromoter, Rewardful or Tolt referral cookie in their browser, the affixo script reads it and credits the matching affiliate. This only kicks in when there's no newer affiliate link, so a fresh click always wins.
Make sure codes come over#
| Importer | Codes kept when you | |---|---| | FirstPromoter | Import over the API (referral links and domains are preserved) | | GoHighLevel | Include the affiliate export. API only gives new codes | | Rewardful | Use the export or the API | | Tolt | Use the export. The API gives new codes | | CSV file | Include a Referral code column |
If a code was already taken in your workspace, the importer gives that affiliate a new one and lists it. Send those affiliates their new link.
Test a real link#
Install the tracking script
Put the affixo script on your site in place of your old platform's. See Install the tracking script.
Open the cookie test
Go to the FirstPromoter or GoHighLevel tab in SettingsWorkspaceImport & migration and find Cookie sniff test.
Test a link
Paste one of your existing affiliate links and click Open & test link. It opens the link in a popup and waits for the tracking hit. Link is working means visitors who click it are credited correctly.
Tip
If the test says No click detected, check the script is installed on that page, keep the popup open until it finishes, and try a browser without an ad blocker.

Questions
No. The tracking script reads ref, sa_ref, fp_ref, fpr, am_id, via, deal, _from, _by and _go. As long as the affiliate's code was imported, the old link credits them.
If they still carry a FirstPromoter, Rewardful or Tolt referral cookie, the affixo script reads it and credits the matching affiliate. A fresh affiliate link always takes priority.
When the affiliate's code didn't come over: a GoHighLevel import using the API only, a Tolt import over the API, an affiliate with no code, or a code that was already taken and had to change.
On the FirstPromoter or GoHighLevel import tab, paste the link into the Cookie sniff test and click Open & test link. It confirms which affiliate gets credit.
Yes. Each campaign has a Tracking parameter setting. Coming from FirstPromoter, keep fpr so old and new links look the same.
