Self-referral fraud

Self-referral fraud occurs when an affiliate makes purchases through their own referral link — or via friends and fake accounts — to collect commissions on their own spending.

It is one of the most common abuses in referral and affiliate programs, especially where the commission or discount is large relative to the product price.

Detection relies on matching identity signals between the affiliate and the buyer — shared payment details, IP addresses, device fingerprints or emails — and flagging the overlap.

In affixo

affixo flags self-referral patterns automatically from identity signals so they can be reviewed before payout.
