Clawback
A clawback is the reversal of a previously credited commission when the underlying sale is refunded, charged back, or cancelled within a defined period.
Clawbacks protect a business from paying out on revenue it did not keep. Without them, refunded or disputed sales would leave commissions on the books.
The cleanest clawbacks are automated: the affiliate system listens for refund and dispute events from the billing provider and reverses the matching commission without manual reconciliation.
